Dr. Aditya Kumar Lohar, Chief Scientist and Head, Additive Manufacturing Research Group, and Dy. Head, Advance Casting Research Group, CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), embarked on his journey in the realm of scientific inquiry with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 1993. He pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 from IIT Kharagpur, delving into the intricacies of metal casting and the solidification of metal pathways. Before his appointment at CMERI in 1997, he held a position of Engineering Officer at TEXMACO Pvt. Ltd. and project assistant at IIT Kharagpur. With a passion for pushing the boundaries of scientific understanding, he then earned his Ph.D. in 2010 from IIT Kharagpur in sandwich model with TU Berkakademie, Freiberg, Germany, focusing his research on the processing and characterization of aluminum-scandium alloys and their composites. Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Lohar's dedication to scientific excellence and commitment to addressing the pressing need for advanced material and intricate component development have earned him DAAD fellowship and Raman Research Fellowship. He worked as a research scientist at TU Berkakademie, Freiberg, Germany from 2004 to 2005 and post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, USA in 2012. With his multidisciplinary expertise and relentless pursuit of innovation, Dr. Lohar continues to make profound contributions in the fields of metal casting, additive manufacturing, and advanced material processing to enhance the quality and productivity of components.
