Dr. Ranjit Ray is currently working in the field of Underwater Robotics at CSIR- Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur, India as a Senior Principal Scientist. Dr. Ray received B.E. and M.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering in the year 1996 and 1999 from IIEST, Shibpur (erstwhile B E College, Deemed University) & Jadavpur University) respectively.   And obtained his PhD in Applied Mechanics & Aerospace Engineering from IIEST, Shibpur (erstwhile Bengal Engineering and Science University), India in 2010.

He has more than 20 years of experience as a research scientist at the CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR), Durgapur, India, since 2004. He is currently in the Group of Underwater Robotics and Autonomous Systems as Senior Principal Scientist. He is also an Associate Professor of Academy of Scientific and Academic Research (AcSIR), CSIR, India. His research interests include Mobile robot path planning and localization, Underwater Autonomous System, and Machine Vision. He has published number of research papers in reputed Journals/conference, filed patents. He has executed more than ten research projects sponsored by IGCAR, MoES, NIOT, Ministry of Science and Technology.
