CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal and CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur shared a visionary roadmap for farmer-centric innovation during the institute’s nationwide outreach Design and development of an Offset rotavator for intercropping & intercultural operations in orchards under Indian conditions.
Mechanization of orchards is nascent stage in India and proper machinery to do the farm operations like tilling, inter-culture etc are not available. Side shifting capability of the rotavators can be used for proper inter-cultural applications in the orchard especially under the canopy. Using this option, the tractor operator will be able to till the soil under the tree canopy where tilling cannot be done with present rotavator designs. After incorporating this design feature in the rotavator, the operator can till soil in any given conditions like seed bed preparation, orchard tilling etc.
