The 'Robotics & Automation (R&A) Group’ at CSIR-CMERI is executing R&D Projects to address requirements of civilian, industrial, strategic as well as societal sector.  There are Sponsored CSIR funded projects and Bilateral projects ongoing in the division. Group is also providing automated solution for various requirements to relieve human operators from remote, repetitive and hazardous activities.

Activities:

The research verticals of R&A Group are as follows:-

1. Industrial Robotics (IR)

• Intelligent Assist Devices (IADs) and collaborative robots for safe material handling, process automation, etc.  in shop floor.
• Smart Factory concept enabling sensing, measurement, control, and communication for quality and productivity augmentation through applications of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence and IoT towards Industry 4PI solutions.
• Automation of repetitive and hazardous process through robotic interventions in Manufacturing, DT/NDT, Condition Monitoring and other allied industrial process.

2. Rehabilitation and Healthcare

• Interventions through assisted robotic devices for persons seeking to recover their physical, social, communication, or cognitive function.

3. Security and Surveillance

• Surveillance Class Long endurance Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for inspection, health monitoring and intervention at underwater environment.
• Aerial and Field Robotic Systems with remote manipulation for exploration and disposal of hazardous materials.
