Advantages:

Performance of cooking oil differs in different parts of the country and the choice is strongly influenced by such factors as oilseed availability, food habits particular to the region and popular tastes. Mustard oil in its pungent form is widely preferred in certain parts of the country.

The extraction of mustard oil is done almost exclusively by traditional means employing wooden ghanis. The method of extraction is dates, inefficient and wasteful as the crushing capacity of wooden ghanis is low and oil residue in the cake is high. To solve this problem and increase the yield of oil from oilseeds while at the same time retaining the flavour and pungency of the yield, CSIR-CMERI (CoEFM, Ludhiana) has developed oil expeller of 1 TPD capacity.

50 TPD Modern Oil Expeller developed by CSIR-CMERI (CoEFM, Ludhiana) is Single  pass  crushing  replaces three/four successive crushing. Normally required in conventional expellers, high oil extraction efficiency and increased recovery of oil. Less residual oil in the cake, low power consumption and low operating cost, improved pungency and better quality of oil and cake (mustard) having residual in cake less than 8%.
