Main objectives: To explore a modified adsorption based defluoridation method suitable for Nalhati-Rampurhat area, Birbhum District, West Bengal, India
What was achieved: Modified adsorption based defluoridation method as a possible solution of drinking water problem in fluoride affected rural areas.
Project Start Date: 20/11/2014
Project Type:
- Business Project
Achieved:
- Modified adsorption based defluoridation method as a possible solution of drinking water problem in fluoride affected rural areas
- IPR Filed
- Design Registration: “Design of three stage water filtration module”.
- Patent: “Spinel magnesium ferrite impregnated activated alumina adsorbent for effective defluoridation of water and a process for the preparation thereof” Ref. No. 201611014777 (Filed in April, 2016).
What Next?
The society will be highly benefited from the outcomes of the project. A new adsorbent (i.e. Spinel ferrite impregnated activated alumina) with improved
defluoridation capacity in comparison to traditional activated alumina adsorbents has been developed. A novel three stage domestic type water filtration unit which could be advantageous for the defluoridation of water in rural India has been designed. In near future, these findings will be adopted to develop a domestic water filter (defluoridation unit) suitable for rural people of the fluoride affected areas.
