Before the renovation and modernization / life extension programme, it is mandatory to conduct Residual Life Assessment study ( RLA ) of all critical components, which brings into notice for mandatory replacement / modifications necessary to guarantee a minimum 75% plant load factor and 85% plant availability.

CMERI, Durgapur has credibility considerable experience in the field of RLA and failure analysis of different power plant components, resulting in significant improvement of power plant and component life. This Institute has a strong interface with various power plants over a long period of time. It is to be mentioned that Life Assessment activity is one of the thrust areas of this Institute.
