Product development using conventional design and manufacturing techniques involves appreciable time and cost. New Time Compression Technologies (TCT) when judicially employed, help in significant saving of time and cost. 3D Scanning, Solid Modelling, Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling are these new technologies. These have been installed at CMERI, Durgapur and have been extensively utilized since 1997 for assisting the Industrial houses as well as the Research Projects of CMERI itself to realize a new product in the shortest possible time.

The Rapid Prototyping System has been usefully integrated with downstream processes and now the RP models can quickly be converted into functional components of metal or plastic. Spin Casting and Investment Casting are significant facilities available with a modern foundry at CMERI.
