Manufacturing of hard prototypes is an essential part of product development that requires high grade capability for manufacturing precision and reliable components.

To facilitate this, CMERI has equipped its workshop with a state-of-the-art facility that comprises CNC Lathe, EDM Wire-cut & Sinking Machine, 4 Axis CNC Milling Machine, Honing Machine, Precision Cylindrical Grinder, Very High Speed Grinding & Milling Spindles, Jig Boring, Tool Presetter, Central Hole Ginding Machine, Jig Grinder Attachment,High Precession CNC Lathe, Robotic Laser Process Set-Up etc. A modern and versatile Heat Treatment Furnace with fluidised heating media has also been installed for carrying out different heat treatments and surface treatments for prototypes and tooling components.

It is an ideal place for product development as the manufacturing facilities are adequately supported by design, metrology, foundry & heat treatment facilities.

 Design and Development of Molds and Dies
The core tool-engineering group comprises one scientist and three toolmakers with tool engineering as specialization. This group is actively involved in the following two categories of activities.
